65% OF ALL ARRESTS INVOLVING WEAPONS WERE 10 TO 29 YEARS OLD

20% OF GUN DEATHS

ARE UNDER THE AGE OF 25

THE THIRD LARGEST CAUSE OF DEATHS FOR THIS GROUP IS SUICIDE

The hard facts are we are losing a whole generation of people. If we don't do somethng now, we won't have a future generation. We need to take action now. This is the goal of the Jamel Bean Project.

Everyday we lose more young adults to the gun violence. What we know is the problem isn't the violence. The violence is the result of the problem. The problem is hopelessness, unemployment and/or underemployment, devauling, and underminding of the youths of today.

It's time to stop all the talking and finger pointing. We can not relay on the government to raise our kids. The only way to save them is to get involved and let them know they are important. And show the steps they need to claim their lives back.

Today we are facing a new epidemic, the lost of our young people. 54 percent of gun deaths in 2010 were under the age of 30, based on a report by Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, “WISQARS:

Fatal Injury Data,” available at http://www.cdc.gov/

injury/wisqars/fatal.html. What we know is, violence is the result of the problem and not the probelm itself.

Finding soultions to problems will involve more than talk. We have to make a plan, and then put in to work. Some of the issues we need to deal with are: Hopelessness, Homelessness, Suicide, Bullying, Gun and Gang Violence, Rape, Devaluing, Racism, Domestic Violence, Unemployment, Under Educated, Labeling, Mental Illness, Stereo Typing, Profiling, Harassment and more.

We at Man In The Mirror SC will tackle the problem itself as oppose to waiting for the result, meaning the violence. We are giving our endangered group the attention and resouces they need to become postive and productive people in society.
